We are a lively art and craft group based in Llanelli, West Wales. Our main aim is to tackle loneliness and at the same time increase individual skills by developing new talents and friendships, sharing existing skills and expertise, showcasing the end results and arranging day trips to local places of interest.
Communities First Trust Fund Project
LSFF’s successful Fayre and Toy Exhibition held on Saturday, 6th December 2008 was packed with craft items made by members from ideas researched over the internet and by talking to our neighbours fom differing ethnic backgrounds.
At our twice weekly workshops members made dolls, dressed dolls, welsh dolls, stuffed animals as well as cribs, North American truck and train money boxes, board games, nursery rhyme stuffed toys, trinket boxes and of course Santa’s. Members really enjoyed and had a lot of fun making a variety of puppets during their Artscare puppetmaking course, developing a funny voice for each puppet. The photograph below displays the Christmas puppet wedding attended by Father Chrismas and his trainees as well as a snowman and clown.

Awards For All, Wales
Last year we were successful with an Awards For All, Wales application to attend three learning events: Crafts for Christmas at the NEC in Birmingham, the Royal Welsh Winter Fayre and the Stitch and Creative Craft Show on Cheltenham Racecourse in February. Attending these events enabled us to research new crafts and materials, and bring new ideas and skills to our twice weekly workshops. Awards for All, Wales have also funded equipment to aid our members with sight impairment to continue to enjoy and experiment with their craft.
We meet every Monday evening at the Glanymor & Tyisha Communities First Offices in 26 - 28 Inkerman Street at 6:00pm and Thursday at St Barnabas to get creative.
