Projects
Through arts and crafts, we have found friends and developed new skills by working together on a number of projects including:
The Village
The Plastic-Canvas Village was an idea originating from the founder members of the group as a way of giving us a focus and getting us working together in the same direction. Funding was sourced from the Communities First Trust Fund for the materials and health and safety equipment. Awards for All later funded the exhibition which took take place on Saturday 24th November 2007 at Trinity Chapel, and workshops to generate interest and increase participation.
The Village has been constructed using a variety of yarns and seven and ten count plastic canvas. Each member has contributed to the village, by making large items such as a school and playing fields, to small items such as telephone kiosks and garden furniture.
No patterns were used in the creation of the village, all the components were made from scratch using our own imagination, and inspiration from Welsh architecture.
